A girlfriend of mine has an issue with a new found friend of her husband. A lesbian.

She hates them hanging out, she feels threatened by her. "She's a woman! She's going to be attracted to you!"



She wishes him to terminate the friendship.

Guys, as her husband, would you do such a thing?

Well I don't think its a good idea for anyone in a marriage to be to close friends with someone of the opposite sex.

I don't believe in close male-female friendships without it at some point developing into one wanting something else than friendship. There are a few exceptions of course, like childhood friends where the friendship is more like brother-sister. But I sure as hell would not start hanging out with some woman I just meet, lesbian or not, out of respect for my girlfriend.

Perhaps the husband is just looking for threesome candidates ?

I don't think anybody I'd concede to marry would ask anything of that nature...so I really can't say. Insecure... and irrationally so at that isn't sexy in the least.

I guess if by some twist of fate I'd found myself in that situation it'd depend on a lot of factors... e.g. how much the friendship meant, how long it'd been going on, the state of the relationship with my wife, etc

There are too many unanswered variables here. First, I don't believe my wife would ever suggest such a thing. I would probably not begin a relationship with a new woman at any level anyway. My wife is my best friend. A major part of her role in my life is supposed to be friendship. If the situation was reversed and I was threatened by a male friend of hers. I would first make sure he was actually gay. It could be another factor in their deception.

Thats a good question. I'm sure there are more than a few ways. If you had any common friends it could probably be found out in just a few question. There's always spying.... If the guy is living in a one bedroom apartment with another dude it might be a tip off. I don't think you would have to be to creative to find out. If he's using it as an excuse to fly under the radar with your wife, it wouldnt be well known. If he is living the lifestyle it would be.

Still the bigger question is unanswered. If your loved one is seeking friendships with others there is already another problem. There's nothing wrong with having friends. But if it's a new friendship and they're hanging out enough to be a problem then in a way you are already being replaced. My wife and I are best friends. If she replaces me with a new best friend I'll be more than worried.
