Default Does your Training/Nutrition Lifestyle Effect your Relationships?

Does your healthy lifestyle have an impact on your relationships? I know that when I am training for a show, it's difficult for me to make plans that revolve around food, attend family functions, etc. What about you??

Yes. It does have an impact on some of my relationships. When I go out, I have no problem eating things that are within my diet, but apparently people don't like to ask me out to eat any more because I make them too conscious of what they are eating.

Otherwise, I've lost some 'friends' because of my weight loss. Imagine if I ever start training for a show.

It's never been a real issue for me.

When I was a teen bodybuilder, my mother brought it home for me really quickly.

I was young, had a job, buying my own food... and she made the 'mistake' of trying to help me by cooking a meal. She added salt and seasonings to it. And I freaked out... I threw that shit in the sink, cus I was frustrated. My sodium had been cut and so that meat had been wasted.

She let me know that she didn't force me to start bodybuilding... and as such I had no right to mistreat anyone (because ultimately, that's what it amounted to - crankiness et. al. is basically moderate emotional abuse) as a result.

Since that day, I've cooked my own meals... kept my thoughts about people's eating habits and what's not to myself. When I go out, I order what I want... what fits into my diet.

If people have questions, I answer them... the end.

I've never had an issue going out to events which are based around food.

I've never had an issue socializing.

The people who are around me have been for years... and even the newer faces tend to know that I'm an easy-going person.

Where intimate relationships are concerned, it's never been a point of contention. My most recent ex and her family ate like shit. I'd go over there, cook my own meals and hang out. They'd ask questions, and eventually they started to change their diets. Not because I asked them to, or because they felt self-conscious... but because, for once, they had someone who they could ask questions to, who could show 'em a better way of doing some things, without coming across as a pompous ass. That latter point is, I find, a reason why a lot of people don't know how to make appropriate food choices. The fitness world, like the world in general, is full of pompous Asses.
