Default 14th Jan. Random exercises

I did two workouts today. A main upper body workout that I didnt catch on video and then in the evening a workout to work a bit on form, get the heart rate up and do some mobility work.

I caught on video kettlebell snatches, two mobility exercises and hang power cleans. I noticed one new flaw in my cleans, I don't have my shoulders in front of the bar. Now its a reverse curl again with leg drive rather than a clean

Kettlebell snatches rocks! I love them, they are so different from dumbbell snatches where the dumbbell is suposed to move close to the body, a kb snatch is more like a swing that ends with a powerfull snatching motion. The catch at the top is also tricky, since one has to push very powerfully uppwards or otherwise the bell will hit the backside of the hand hard. Really teaches to push through at the lockout.

I should use more back for the kettlebell snatches as well, I am staying to uppright and using more leg drive than I should. Have to work on that as well

Nice vid.

Not a fan of the kettlebell snatch execution though.

Also, the hip tightest is very clear when you drop into the lateral lunge.

Keep 'em coming :)

Good work Johan!

Looks like a great workout!

Personally I'm not much for hurky jerky movements though, I don't think these old shoulder's could handle it.

Thanks squat , these kind of exercise has acctually improved my shoulder health, they are quite friendly to joints. Atleast kettlebell exercises.

Nark got any advice for the kb snatches? I am a bit undecided on the style for them, there seem to be some that prefer a snatch similar to barbel or dumbbell snatch where weight goes straight up. While others prefer starting it like a swing. Found these two vids of it.

Swing snatch(halfway through).

Vertical KB snatch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyTus-kiGVo

my snatches doesn't really look like either but closer to the swing.

My hips are tight like a virgin but lateral lunges and some other stuff is improving it :)

^^I'm a bit torn to be honest.

Both look like a train wreck waiting to happen.

I prefer having the weight arc away from my body...as per the swing snatch. However, the vertical snatch looks 'safer'... so, personally, I'd go with that.
