Exclamation The "Klokov Press"
aka The Snatch-grip Behind-the-neck Press:



  1. Step under the bar as if performing a barbell back squat, resting the bar on your traps
  2. Grip the bar at snatch grip width
  3. Press upwards over your head without pushing from the legs
  4. Lower back to starting position, absorbing some of the impact by bending the knees slightly if using a heavy weight
  5. Remember, if the Russians are doing it, you should be too
  1. Technical cues taken from the video:
    Keep the shoulder blades tightly pressed together at all times
  2. Don't shrug up as in a normal overhead press
  3. Maintain external rotation of the humerus throughout each rep
  4. Balance the bar roughly in line with your elbows
