Default Cardio/Weightlifting training help

Well It has been a while since I have done cardio. 2 weeks ago I went to go running and I couldn't even make half a mile, lol. But then again I have pretty much done no type of exercise the past 4 years or 5 years. So that could have contributed to me being so out of shape right now.

But anyways, I'm some what new to all of this (fitness) so if someone could lead me into the right direction that would be great.

Well I would concider my body type a endomorph.

I'm 5'10" or 5'11"
I weigh 190

I dont really struggle with gaining weight. I have been in the 180-190 range for 3 years or so.

I am big but im not fat, but not cut. but I do have some fat also.

my diet is..

I dont really have a diet at the moment. I usually just eat breakfast (when I wake up) and then dinner at dinner time, usally after 6pm

The main food I eat is meat. chicken, beef.
I usually eat 3 salads a week, but anyways I dont have a diet I just eat what im hungry for.

I have some goals set that I want to achomplish by the end of summer. I want to challenge myself to see if I can do it. (end of summer last day of august)

I want to lose fat that I have and replace it with muscle. Gain more strength, and get more cardio fit.

I want to be able to run at the least 3 miles without stopping.
I want to be able to do 100 Push ups in a row
200 sit ups in a row
10 pull ups
(but I guess that would come with strength?)

I plan on joining a gym also ( not in one yet, was thinking I should do cardio for a month or so first )

I dont want to be slim like a twig. I want to keep my size but I want less fat, and more muscle gains and more strength.

I am pretty motivated to do this also, and pretty excited to get started once someone can help me in the right direction.

So what I am asking for is if someone can help me out on what I should do? or some kind of workout plan, or some tips would be helpful.

You need to start reading up in the Diet and Weightraining sections mate,plenty of very good info in those forums.......
You should go and join a good gym and start to train properly/regulary...........
Three meals a day really is jusy not good enough you need to be eating 5-7 small meals throughout the day,this will keep your metabolism turning over which in turn will help you burn fat.............

You really don't have a 'diet' mate.

I think you should join RIGHT NOW!

Cardio and weight-training are compatible... and necessary for your goals.

...PARTICULARLY where your time frame is concerned.

@ booz

By 6 or 7 Small meals a day, is that like actual meals? as in... say something small you buy at a restaurant. or just small foods, like carrots, chicken fingers, cheese sticks, bacon, stuff like that? and thanks for the help

As nark said combine cardio and weights right off the bat and you will get much better results and quicker too.

My best advice is to listen to Nark..
Do yourself a favour and go read up in the Diet section and Training sections.........

Small meals as in small meals mate.............

To get to where you want to mate you need to have your diet/training/rest down right........

Start there, and work backwards.

When you come up with a base diet...we'll critique it for you.

Then you can work on your work-out split.
