Default Why men aren't wearing their wedding rings

Five Reasons Why Men Arenít Wearing Their Wedding Rings

My husband does not wear his wedding ringÖever. He hasnít in years. He does not wear any jewelry other than a watch. It used to bother me and I still wish he would but Iíve long given up on that. But let me tell youÖif I didnít wear mine heíd be sure to let me know about it. Men!

If your husband isnít wearing his ring, there could be a very good reason. Weíre sure youíve asked. Itís not really a subject that goes undiscussed in a relationship. But here are five reason why men donít wear their wedding rings.

1. Because they just donít like jewelry
Not always going to gain favors with the spouse, but an excuse many men use. Some guys just donít like to wear jewelry.

2. Because of their health
Itís not very common but some people are allergic to gold, silver and other metals rings are made of. It makes it really hard to wear something that makes you break out in a rash or swell up so you canít even get the ring off. Also if a man has rheumatoid arthritis or another disease that causes swelling in the joints it can be difficult to keep a ring on all the time.

3. Because of their job
Mechanics, construction workers and men in the military often donít wear rings because itís unsafe at their job. Now that might work from 9-5 (or whatever their hours are) but itís hard to make that excuse when youíre out on date night.

4. Because they might lose it
Some men worry that they might lose the ring during the course of the day and just choose to leave it somewhere safe. Not sure how often wedding rings get misplaced, but if they are constantly having to take it off, that might be a valid worry.

5. It goes against their beliefs
Believe it or not there are actually some religions where the wedding ring is not a sacred symbol. The puritan settlers who came to America happen to be one of those and some people still follow their beliefs.

hmmm interesting. well if that is the case then lets talk about it... don't just stop wearing it.
1. if you don't like jewelry then that is something we should have discussed before the wedding and looked for an alternative.
2. if you are allergic then that is something we both should know before hand... and looked for an alternative.
3. this is understandable.
5. if it goes against your beliefs then we shouldn't have incorporated rings in the first place.

Interesting reasons but I don't think any of them are earth shattering or things we didn't already know. When I get married I won't care if my husband wears his ring or not...to me it's not a big deal. I do think that both people in a relationship should come to an understanding about rings, wearing them etc. early on because I figure someone not wearing their ring could cause problems and that'll just lead to an unhappy marriage.

If I feel that he loves and appreciates me, he doesn't need to wear the ring just because needs to. Love would be enough. But if I'm still not secured about his feelings for me, not wearing the wedding ring will really annoy me. No, if I wasn't secured, then I shouldn't have married him in the first place.

Question

I think people that are married should wear their wedding rings. It is a sign of respect to your partner, whether or not that idea is among the most popular of beliefs,I think that despite the job that you do, whether it be a job that requires you to do manual labor or not. With a manual labor job being able to increase the risk of damaging your ring should you wear it while working, there is a time, that you are not working, and at that time, you should wear your ring. If a person is allergic to a certain type of ring, say a gold or silver ring, choose a type that you are not allergic to. Wearing a wedding ring is very much a sign of commitment and so to men that do not wear their wedding rings, I pose these suggestions as to why they don't wear their rings;

1) They are not comfortable with showing the world that they are married

2)They do not want to flaunt the appearance of a ring on their fingers.

3) They like the idea of having a "single profile" although being married and

4) They genuinely do not like jewelry or rings.

Imagine if a Wife was to not wear her wedding ring because of all the reasons there are for not wearing a ring?

The main reason why I didn't wear my wedding bands is because my job forbid it. I used a lot of hand tools and actively handled electrical lines. After that I would go home and start a project using my own tools. After awhile I just left it off, because it was bothersome.

Those are all really great points and applicable reasons why many men don't wear their wedding rings. Some may think that married men don't want to wear their rings because they are planning to cheat on their wives. However, we're not in the 80's anymore. People that cheat don't have a problem in doing so with or without showing their wedding band. People have also adopted a more casual dress code in the past couple of years, this also makes it easier for people not to be that concerned about always wearing their wedding ring.

Since I can remember the main reason why men dislike to wear wedding rings are these in bold.

However not because they simply like the idea of having a single profile being married, but ensure credibility when it comes to be flirting, blatantly cheating on their partners.

I take my ring off when I'm pissed at my wife.

Cus, right at that moment, it's an omnipresent, irritating reminder of what's pissing me off.
