Default Screen or Sound vs. Paper

When it comes to books these days, we have so many different options. There is the new Amazon Kindle which stores, what? Like a billion books or something?

Then of course there are all these e-books and audio books that you can listen to whenever or read online.

Do you guys have a preference for reading these days?

Personally, during the day when I'm working, I'm staring at the computer screen anyway, so it's easier for me too just read my articles and stuff online. But to me, there's still nothing better than curling up with a good, old fashioned book and flippin' those pages

What do you guys prefer?

I hate reading articles on the screen. At work I always print out all articles I need to read, unless its short stuff(max 3 pages).

I don't like sound books much either. The voice usual annoy me and stops me from getting absorbed by the story properly.

The e-book readers look interesting, never tried reading of one though so I have no opinion on them yet. I find it more straining to the eyes to read from a screen so thats a major factor for me.

Fuck 'em.

I like paper in hand.

I like the feel of it.

I like the environment it generates.

I'd study from a text on my pc...but I wouldn't do any recreational, or otherwise personal reading from a pc (or other screen)... unless reading subtitles counts.

Sound books annoy me too.

Confuses the voice(s) in my head that I usually hear when I read anything.

Every piece has a different tone IMO.

Every character has a different persona, and voice.

Sound books don't/can't capture/perpetuate that.

Sound books = cognitive dissonance for me.

Nark, I agree with you there about the voices in my head when I read. The characters sound a certain way to me when I read that audio books simply can't match.
